Blog #2 THE MOST FRUSTRATING BUT GREATEST GAME EVER

I had the wonderful experience of having to play this game called Contra developed by Konami.
The game gives you an option to play with someone else but I decided that to play it by myself. Big mistake I think I probably would have enjoyed it better if I had played it with a friend. I played as the Blond- haired commando name Bill who wears a  white tank top and a red bandanna because why not. This is a picture of the game. You have Lance on the right and Bill on the left.

I played the game thinking it would be easy but wow was I mistaken. This game took 3 hours of my life to beat. Three hours that I will not get back.I got so frustrated and angry that I almost rage quit the sucker but finally after a 3 hour non stop play I manage to beat the game. here is a picture of the game screen when you beat the game. Although I must confess that I did use the Infamous Contra cheat to get the 30 lives. I think its almost impossible in my opinion to beat the game without.

The game has 8 stages the last one being that you have to fight an alien which I was not expecting at all let me tell you. But after button smashing the A and B button like crazy I manage to kill the Alien and safe earth. If I was a designer in the 80's around when this game came along I would definitely do something about the main hero dying easily every time he is under fire from bullets shot by enemies or Turrets. I didn't like how when you would die you would spawn right in the middle of battle so I think this could be a flaw in the game that as a designer at that time I would try to fix. I would have the player spawn at a safer distance from the enemies. I think what this game lacks is a shield power up for the heroes since as you advance the game becomes harder and harder to play. By the time you reach stage 6 or 7 you are bombarded with enemies left and right and you have nowhere to run or hide. Jumping and killing can only get you so far eventually the lack of a having a power up like a shield that can shield you from bullets starts to  makes its appearance. I think this is an easy fix and it wouldn't take the designers too much time to add a shield power up in the game. I think that if this was done to the game the game would be that much cooler and fun than it already is. The shield could spawn only a few times depending on the necessity in the game. For example if you didn't have many life's left but you were in the final stages of the game the shield power up would pop up. This would be a game changer because it would make it much easier to advance and get to the final boss battle at the end. Overall despite my little rant about how the game is so frustrating and stressful I have to admit that this game is pretty fun to play. It was quiet and frustrating but rewarding experience playing this game.
